Elecnor Sistemas, winner of the first technological challenge of La Lonja

The company Elecnor Sistemas has won the first technological challenge promoted by La Lonja de la Innovación to obtain a non-point fog sensor.

The innovation challenge

Elecnor sistemas is the winner of the first technological challenge promoted by La Lonja, in which we were looking to cover a need not yet resolved by the market: a non-point fog sensor that reports the meters of visibility. This challenge consisted of knowing the degree of density and depth of the fog in the access and interior routes of the Port of Huelva, with the aim of ensuring the operative of the ships in their usual displacement.

On the occasion of this achievement, last November 26th, the president of the Port of Huelva, Pilar Miranda, had a meeting with the director of Elecnor Sistemas, David Ruiz, and the commercial director of Ports in Elecnor Sistemas, Ricardo Ares. In this meeting, Pilar valued positively the project developed by the winning company, because “it is an innovative initiative to respond to a problem of lack of visibility in the port operations, due to the weather conditions, a solution that can speed up and avoid complicated maneuvers in port vessel traffic”.

The president of the Port of Huelva also used this meeting to emphasize that “La Lonja de la Innovación is promoting innovation and improving competitiveness in the processes of the port operations through the transfer of knowledge of the companies housed in this space, resulting of their constant work and the exchange of knowledge with technicians and mentors”.

Elecnor Sistemas’ solution

To face this challenge promoted by La Lonja, Elecnor Sistemas has proposed as a solution the use of a visible spectrum laser with a high-sensitivity camera that allows to control the point of visual loss. In this way, an adaptive artificial intelligent engine would be able to provide a study of the environment efficiently, by measuring the points of visual loss, to analyze the density of the fog.

The winning company highlights that one of the main innovations is the ability to measure the density without needing to have a distant reflectant point, allowing to take measurements at the sea or in large areas.

Stay tuned for the updates from La Lonja de la Innovación to find out the winners of the next challenges as well as the new challenges we propose.
