A few days ago, La Lonja participated in the FIWARE Summit 2022, where we were able to announce that Maritime IoT solutions (MSC group), a global company dedicated to maritime transport and logistics for more than 50 years, is going to launch a technological challenge to improve the monitoring of the company’s Reefer containers in La Lonja de la Innovación.
Therefore, Huelva will host the launch of this challenge and our facilities will be the place where the research, development and testing tasks will be done. This opens the path for the development of new technologies in the maritime sector in our innovation hub.
Pilar Miranda, president of the Port of Huelva, showed her satisfaction and claimed that “this commitment of the most important shipping company in the world to La Lonja de la Innovación highlights that we are a pioneer port in the field of digitalization and innovation, since we are developing important projects in this area in collaboration with all the operators of the transport chain.”
She also highlighted that this initiative was “one more step in the generation of employment and opportunities from our innovation ecosystem, which we make available to those companies such us Maritime IoT Solutions, with an innovative project, so they can incubate their idea,mature it and accelerate the project”.
In addition, during the event, our dynamizer Manuel Bravo, presented our hub as the first FIWARE iHub of the logistics-port sector and Mafran Martínez, CTO of the Port Authority of Huelva, gave the talk “The Port as a driving force for innovation in the region”.
It was an experience in which we had the opportunity to share our activity, values and objectives in the biggest FIWARE fair in the world. There we were able to surround ourselves with talent and incredible initiatives. In addition, Gabriel Gómez from Nebulous Systems and Gabriel Gerrus from Seaport Solutions, two startups accelerated in La Lonja were also present at this big fair where they presented their services to the attendees.
With initiatives such as this one, La Lonja de la Innovación wants to promote the digital transformation and technological innovation of the port sector, with the objective of boosting the socioeconomic development of the Port of Huelva and Huelva society.
