La Lonja de la Innovación and the Port of Huelva boost 24 technology projects in Ports 4.0

La Lonja de la Innovación and the Port of Huelva have consolidated their role as engines of innovation by supporting a total of 24 companies in the latest call for the Ports 4.0 fund. This national program, endowed with over 6.7 million euros, seeks to transform the logistics and port sector through technology and entrepreneurial talent.

The support provided has been fundamental so that these projects, ranging from initial ideas to commercial solutions ready for the market, can opt for public funding with greater guarantees of success. The advisory work has focused on connecting the technological capabilities of the companies with the real needs of the port environment.

Support for the innovative ecosystem

To achieve this milestone, both institutions have acted as bridges between innovation and financing. This support has materialized mainly in two ways: through support letters that endorse the strategic interest of the projects, and by acting as Facilitating Agents, making the Port of Huelva's facilities available to companies so they can test their technologies in a real environment.

Thanks to this support, participating companies have been able to validate their proposals and better understand how their technology can add value. In total, 24 projects have received this direct boost from Huelva, standing out in a call that has broken participation records across Spain.

In total, 9 support letters were issued within the commercial modality, and they also acted as a Facilitating Agent for 4 companies. Meanwhile, for the ideas modality, there were 6 support letters and 5 companies that received support as a Facilitating Agent.

With initiatives like this, the Port of Huelva and La Lonja de la Innovación reaffirm their commitment to the creation of a more efficient, sustainable, and competitive ecosystem, promoting the growth of companies that will lead the future of the logistics sector.

The Ports 4.0 Grants

The submission deadline for this year's Ports 4.0 grants closed with a participation record, with 88.5% more than last year for the ideas modality and 35.80% for the commercial projects modality. Many of the participating companies received support from La Lonja de la Innovación and the Port of Huelva.

The Ports 4.0 Fund, driven by the TradeTech ecosystem of Spanish Ports, aims to support entrepreneurs and companies, both national and international, with innovative ideas or projects capable of transforming the port logistics sector.

Likewise, it seeks to boost the efficiency, sustainability, and competitiveness of the sector, promoting projects with a focus on market growth. The fund is not limited solely to disruptive technologies, but also to the development of more efficient processes and innovative business models with a focus on key verticals of the 4.0 economy such as Big Data, Blockchain, AI, Cybersecurity, Digital Twin, etc.
