Desarrollo Circular joined La Lonja de la Innovación through the call we launched when the year began and, since they joined, their project has experienced significant growth. Do you want to know them? What better way to do that than through their CEO, José Manuel Ramírez, in this interview.
Desarrollo Circular project
Desarrollo Circular is a startup focused on supporting companies and institutions, including those in the port sector, “to measure and reduce their carbon footprint”. To achieve this, they use a “technological platform based on artificial intelligence that enables near real-time calculation and tracking of carbon emissions across the entire value chain”. Their CEO explains to us that thanks to this, they can help their clients to comply with environmental regulations and enhance their sustainability and competitiveness.
With this project, José Manuel Ramírez and his team are addressing the urgent need for quick and accurate access to carbon emission data, which he describes as “crucial for meeting increasingly stringent environmental regulations and managing sustainability in companies.” With its solution, Desarrollo Circular makes it possible for information in a sector such as the port industry, where numerous actors and processes converge, to be accessible in a practical and agile format.
Desarrollo Circular’s Journey at La Lonja
To tackle the challenges inherent in entrepreneurship, Desarrollo Circular decided to join La Lonja de la Innovación, “since it provides a favorable environment for startups aiming to innovate in sustainability and technology”, as their CEO tells us. And, after some months in our acceleration program, José Manuel affirmed that it has “given us the opportunity to connect with companies of the Puerto de Huelva and its surrounding ecosystem; participate in events and forums, allowing them to establish relationships with potential clients and collaborators in the sector, in addition to access to key facilities and resources” for the growth and development of their product.
To sum up, the CEO of Desarrollo Circular shared that La Lonja’s facilities “provided them an ideal space for testing and validating” their technological tool. Furthermore, having access to a “business environment where innovative companies converge has allowed us to create synergies and tailor the products to the sector’s real needs”.
It was also after joining La Lonja de la Innovación and gaining access to their resources, that José Manuel began to see significant improvements in the metrics they analyse to measure their progress, such as increased client numbers and improvement in the precision and speed of carbon emissions data collection.
José Manuel also wanted to highlight the connection between the Puerto de Huelva, what he defines as something “fundamental in order to understand the specific needs in the port sector” and, in this way, being able to adapt their technology to the requirements effectively.
During their time at La Lonja de la Innovación they have also met FIWARE technology, which he claims “has provided a solid foundation for the interoperability and processing of the platform, enabling efficient integration of information from multiple sources in real time”. Something that he highlights to have been crucial for providing an optimized user experience aligned with industry standards.
After learning a little bit more about Desarrollo Circular and their interesting project, it’s clear that this startup represents a turning point in the path toward sustainability in sectors like the port industry thanks to their innovative platform, which has significantly benefited after its journey at La Lonja de la Innovación.
