NextPort will develop a pioneer project of La Lonja to speed up port operations

Huelva, February 14th, 2023

The president of the Port of Huelva, Pilar Miranda, met today with the cofounder of NextPort, Óscar Pernía, an affiliated company of Moffat & Nichols in Spain, one of the largest companies related to ports in the world.

The challenge that this company will develop in La Lonja de la Innovación consists of creating a pilot test of an optimization system for port operations, which facilitates data sharing between the different agents in the logistics chain.

This project will offer a FIWARE compatible tool, which will process multiple port operational data through technologies such as artificial intelligence and digital twin and will allow to visualize metrics and dashboards for both operational and strategic  decision making support by the ships entering the Port and inland carriers. This system, which will be a pioneer at national level, will allow drawing conclusions from the information exchanged (currently based on EDI) and optimizing the processes managed by the APH.

The meeting was also attended by the Chief Technology Officer of the Port of Huelva, Manuel Francisco Martínez and Mario Lucio, from NextPort. La Lonja de la Innovación of the Port of Huelva, managed by Telefónica, the first FIWARE port node worldwide, hosts companies and startups which develop innovative technology projects related to port logistics and transport.
