Recently, we welcomed a new mentor to our team: David Barroso de la Rosa, hardware mentor. David, in addition to being an entrepreneur, has more than a decade of experience in electrical engineering and embedded systems development. Over the years, he has led the design and implementation of innovative technological solutions in key sectors such as energy, mobility, the environment, and Smart Cities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
This experience has given him a strong professional background, which he now shares with the entrepreneurs at La Lonja de la Innovaci\u00f3n. To help you get to know him better, we interviewed him.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
David\u2019s relationship with technology is something that \u201ccomes from the cradle.\u201d His family owns a company dedicated to the distribution of electronic components, and he recalls playing with batteries, LEDs, motors, and all kinds of components from a very young age. What began as an innocent game sparked his curiosity and passion for understanding how things work. Thanks to this early connection with electronics, he decided to study engineering.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cFor me, technology is not just a profession, but a passion I\u2019ve had since I was a child,\u201d he says. David Barroso is an engineer with extensive experience across all layers of IoT systems, from hardware and firmware design to cloud integration, backend development, and APIs, with a strong focus on scalability, efficiency, and reliability. Throughout his career, he has focused not only on solving technical problems but also on \u201cgenerating ideas with real impact,\u201d which is why he believes his relationship with entrepreneurship \u201chas always felt natural.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
However, it was only recently that, after leading projects in different companies for years, he took the definitive step and founded Codetika, \u201can initiative created with the goal of developing tailor-made technological solutions by combining software, hardware, and IoT.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cFor me, entrepreneurship is a way of providing value, taking on challenges with creative freedom and responsibility, and building something from scratch alongside other professionals. The possibility of transforming ideas into useful, sustainable, and scalable products with a long-term vision is what motivates me,\u201d David tells us when reflecting on this new challenge in his professional journey with Codetika.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
After years of leading projects and now as an entrepreneur, David has been able to learn which values he considers essential to successfully start a business: \u201cpassion<\/strong> for your project to overcome challenges and maintain momentum; resilience<\/strong> to adapt, learn from mistakes and move forward despite difficulties; creativity<\/strong> to constantly seek new ideas and innovative solutions to differentiate and grow; commitment<\/strong> to carry out the project with constancy and professionalism; collaboration<\/strong> to know how to work as a team and connect with other agents, and vision<\/strong> to have a clear long-term objective and the ability to anticipate changes and opportunities\u201d.<\/p>\n\n\n\n We wanted to know what he thinks can be done in Huelva to promote innovation and entrepreneurship. The paths that David believes are necessary in the province to achieve this boost are all those taken from La Lonja de la Innovaci\u00f3n: \"to promote training and mentoring programs that offer technical, strategic, and business skills support; to facilitate access to financing and resources for innovative projects; to promote coworking spaces and innovation laboratories where people can experiment, prototype, and connect with other agents in the ecosystem; to foster an entrepreneurial culture, encouraging creativity and critical thinking and to commit to internationalization and collaboration with other innovation hubs to attract talent and business opportunities\u201d.<\/p>\n\n\n\n On the other hand, David advises anyone with a project in mind \u201cnot to be afraid of starting and learning along the way.\u201d This fear, he explains, often prevents people from taking the first step. \u201cMany times, we wait until everything is clear before moving forward, but real experience comes from facing challenges and adapting,\u201d he says.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Finally, he highlights the importance of flexibility and openness to feedback, since market needs change quickly and adaptability is key to growth. In this sense, he believes it is essential to surround yourself with a community or mentors who can offer guidance at critical moments, because \u201centrepreneurship isn\u2019t a path that can be walked alone\u201d.
