The company Nextport, which developed a pioneering project of La Lonja to speed up port operations, has been recognized as one of the 50 most innovative startups in the maritime sector.
This recognition has been given byThetius. The company is a research company that helps maritime industry leaders make strategic technology decisions.
The objective of Thetius is to provide industry players, technology suppliers and investors with the information they need to make decisions quickly and confidently.
The developments of NextPort with Port Authorities and terminal operators will become a reality during 2025 and they will involve the deployment of solutions and putting them into production to optimize operations.
The Autoridad Portuaria de Huelva, for its part, is being a key partner for the startup and is expected to consolidate a long-term relationship.
NextPort enables the transformation of decision making for ports and terminals using technologies of digital twins and artificial intelligence (AI).The company takes advantage of a deep experience in the sector to help clients optimize their operations and strategic investments, by creating value through existing data sources. Its suite of tools is designed to improve the efficiency, effectiveness and sustainability of port authorities and terminal operators.
In addition the company has recently been selected by the Puertos del Estado innovation fund Puertos 4.0 for the deployment of its digital twin products in the ports of Algeciras, Huelva and Santander -supported by the different authorities and universities, as well as the port communities in these Ports.
The startup has also developed an artificial intelligence software for the improvement of the traceability and the analysis of operations related to the scale and maneuvering of ships and land logistics for Port Authorities. An example of this is predictive mechanisms developed for the Port of Valencia to assist the optimization of the maritime and land operations.
NextPort has also been selected for the SAFARI port logistics resilience project, supported by NextGen funds of the European Union. This will involve the deployment of their digital twins products in the ports of Seville, Lisbon and Dunkirk (France) -integrating advanced climate and oceanographic data.
Finally, NextPort has established partnerships with Global Terminal Operators such as TerminalLink or SAAM to validate and deploy digital solutions in terminals like Malta, Los Angeles, San Antonio (Chile) or Guayaquil (Ecuador). These will mean the introduction of advanced digital twins-based tools for their control centers, assisting users with intelligence and machine learning.
NextPort leads the working group of automation to establish ICT4.0 standards for interoperability in data exchange and systems integration -fundamental efforts to consolidate projects of automation globally.
