Ports 4.0 launches a new call for the modalities of ideas and commercial projects

On December 11th, the BOE published the call for aid grants from the Ports 4.0 fund in the modalities of ideas and commercial projects. The allocation for this call amounts to 6,750,000 million euros, distributed in two parts:

• Ideas modality. €750,000 are allocated, of which €105,000 are assigned to intrapreneurship, submitted exclusively by personnel from the Port Authorities and Puertos del Estado. The application for this modality is open until February 12th, 2026.
• Commercial projects modality. The remaining €6,000,000 are allocated. In this case, the application can be made until March 12th, 2026.

The application must be submitted electronically in both cases.

The Ports 4.0 grants aim to activate public and private investment in innovation for the transformation and strengthening of digitalization in the transport, logistics and ports sector. In addition to fostering the application of new knowledge and disruptive technologies, new uses of technologies not applied to the sector, as well as research activities that generate added value for the logistics-port community.

In the same line, these grants are also intended to finance the implementation and technological maturation of ideas and projects that develop new technologies, introduce innovative products, services, or processes to the market or improve existing ones within the logistics-port ecosystem or related to it. What is the Ports 4.0 Fund?

The Ports 4.0 Fund was created as a model of corporate open innovation for the Spanish port system, with the aim of attracting, supporting and facilitating the application of talent and entrepreneurship to the Spanish logistics-port sector.

It is articulated through a public aid plan aimed at boosting entrepreneurship for innovation in the sector, thus promoting the creation or consolidation of emerging companies, startups, spin-offs or new business lines of already existing companies that develop innovative solutions in the Spanish logistics-port sector and can enhance and facilitate its adaptation to the 4.0 economy.
